Rheem puts homeowners in control of energy savings

Founded in 1925 by brothers Richard and Donald Rheem, the Rheem Company has pursued innovation ever since, meeting the needs of the times and advancing with products and improvements that keep homeowners coming back again and again.

Did you know that cooling and water heating a home can account for more than 65 percent of a home’s energy use? It’s true. If you’ve paid a utility bill recently, you understand how important it is to be energy conscious.

It makes sense to conserve energy, if only to keep a little more of your own money in your pocket!

Just this January 22, Rheem kicked off its new High Efficiency Air and Water Road Show that features a fully-connected classroom and meeting space in an expandable 53-foot tractor-trailer. The special space includes interactive exhibits and touch-screen displays, as well as a full selection of products for hands-on learning. It’s all there to teach dealers how to help their customers understand all the energy-saving features of Rheem’s high-efficiency heating, cooling and water heating products. “Graduates” from this program are fully prepared to teach homeowners how to get the most energy savings from Rheem products.

That’s important for consumers who struggle to figure things out from an instruction manual. (That would include nearly all of us!)

Rheem water heatersOf special interest is the EcoNet™ Smart Home System developed by Rheem. It will allow you to manage high-efficiency, EcoNet-enabled Rheem and Ruud products from anywhere through a free mobile app or a wall-mounted Control Center. This technology recently became available for Rheem EcoNet-enabled water heaters to work with the Nest Learning Thermostat. (Nest is a forward-thinking company that is dedicated to making smart homes easy to operate.)

A home’s water heating system alone is about 20 percent of that 65 percent of a home’s energy use. According to Rheem, regulating a water heater can lead to significant savings each year. And that’s something we can all look forward to.
